HOME GO

Stoneware clay from Berlin, decorated with oxides, slips and glazes, plus a photo applied as a ceramic decal. Burnt surfaces, worn edges, crooked roof. On the front, a snapshot taken in Cologne: two open sunshades on a balcony, a tiny domestic scene that contrasts with the dirty, scarred body of the piece. Next to it, HOME painted in yellow like a label. On the back, TOURISTS GO, handpainted in a dry, scratchy line.

Concept:

The piece was born while walking through the streets of Barcelona, repeatedly coming across stickers and graffiti reading “TOURISTS GO HOME”. At first they sting; then they make things clearer. A reverse souvenir: not to remember where you’ve been, but to remind you who lives there.
